Funeral services for D. Cordell Austin, age 71, of Portland, were held Friday, July 12, from Dulany; Funeral Home Chapel in Eagle Lake with the Rev. Charles Runk, pastor, of Eagle Lake United Methodist Church officiating. She[sic] passed away July 10 at 3:20 a.m. at the Corpus Christi Hospital in Corpus Christi.

Interment was held at Chesterville Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Dulany Funeral Home in Eagle Lake.

D. Cordell Austin was born May 27, 1914 in Eagle Lake to Thomas and Ethel Magee Austin. He was a member of Oso Naval Lodge No. 1282 A. F. & A. M. and Corpus Christi Area Consistory of Scottish Rite Bodies. He married Lala Larsen Austin.

Preceded in death by his father in 1974, his mother recently in May 1985, and his wife in 1973.

Survivors include: daughters, Mrs. Russell L. "Grace" Sanders and Mrs. Damon "Jacqueline" Kirkpatrick both of Portland; sons, Warren K. Austin of Conroe and Thomas C. Austin of Corpus Christi; sisters, Pauline Clark and Anna Mae Brown both of Eagle Lake; 14 grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
