The Buffalo Police department lost one of its most efficient and best liked members last night in the death of Detective John F. O'Connor of the Franklin Street Station. He died at his home, No. 671 Fulton Street, after a few days illness from double pneumonia.
Detective O'Connor was 43 years old. He was born at No. 655 Fulton Street, down the block from the house where he died. He entered the Buffalo Fire Department in 1906, transferring to the Buffalo Police Department on January 17, 1908. He was promoted to the rank of Detective in 1919 after having served as a Patrolman in the Babcock, Louisiana, West Delavan, South Division, and Franklin Street precincts.
O'Connor is survived by his wife, Isabelle Dibble O'Connor, and six children; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. O'Connor; two brothers, James J. and William R. O'Connor, and three sisters, Mrs. Edward J. Glascott, Mrs. Patrick J. Coughlin and Mrs. John A. Collins.

POLICE PAY LAST RESPECTS TO
DETECTIVE JOHN F. O'CONNOR
Hundreds of friends attended the
funeral of Detective John F. O'Connor of the Franklin street station,
held yesterday morning from his home, No. 671 Fulton Street, to St.
Stephen's church, where Father James T. Sullivan sang solemn high
mass. The cortege was escorted from the residence to the church
by twenty uniformed patrolmen, under Lieutenant Eugene Downey.
Alonzo Mallon sang "Jesus, Jesus, Come to Me" at the church.
Interment was in Holy Cross cemetery. The pallbearers were Buffalo Chief
of Police, James W. Higgins (ID 186922996), Captain Edward J. Healy (ID 61933724), Lieutenant Thomas J. Maloney (ID 195952581), Detective Sergeant William J. Madigan (ID 198008726 ), Detective Michael J. Scanlon (ID 104896039 ), Captain Miles Hartney (ID 184326627) of the Buffalo Fire Department, Detective Sergeant Raymond Delahunt (ID 161344880) of the NYC Railroad Police, and Local Newspaper reporter Roy L. Albertson (ID 43806139).
