Francis "Ted" Bennett

Francis "Ted" Bennett, 92, formerly of Newport Township, Illinois died Friday, September 17, 1999 in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
Ted was born June 25, 1907 in Newport Township, the son of the late Lewis and Lela Bennett.
He attended Russell School and Warren Township High School, and was married to the former Mae Marsh on December 28, 1937 in Bristol, Wisconsin. He lived in Newport township for 88 years where he was engaged in full time farming until 1981. Ted was a Lake County Farm Bureau member and at one time served on the Russell School Board. He and his wife, Mae spent 18 winters together in Englewood, Florida.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mae Bennett; a son, James (Kathleen) Bennett of Burlington, Wisconsin; a daughter, Carol (Eugene) McGuire of Pittsboro, North Carolina; six grandsons; five great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and two step great great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Lewis, Wesley and Bill Bennett; and a sister, Dorothy O'Rourke.
Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, September 21, 1999 at the North Prairie United Methodist Church, 9th Street and Kenosha Road, West of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois with Pastor Carol Quinn officiating. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Newport Township.
Visitation for friends and relatives will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Congdon Funeral Home, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the North Prairie United Methodist Church would be appreciated in his memory.
