William F. Hines, age 67, of West Manchester, OH, passed away Monday, May 3, 2010 at Heartland of Greenville. He was born February 2, 1943 in Dayton, OH to the late Albert R. and Opal A. (Smith) Hines. Bill was a 1962 graduate of Eaton High School; was a U.S. Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War; he attended Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, West Manchester, OH; he was Boy Scout Master of Troop #66, Lewisburg, OH for six years from 1968 – 1973; was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans; was a member of the American Legion Post #665, West Manchester, OH; was part of the National Trail Boosters Club for 23 years, holding many officer positions and was honored for establishing the lights at the football field. Bill was co-owner of "H&H Tackle" and owner of the "Tackle Box", West Manchester, OH; he coached little league during the late 80's and early 90's in Eldorado and New Paris; was an avid gardener, fisherman, orchard keeper and hunter. Bill was always family oriented and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara A. Hines; and half brother Jack Flowers.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years Pam Hines of West Manchester, OH; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Kelsey Hines of Lewisburg, OH; daughter and son-in-law Kellie and Justin Swartsell of Vermilion, OH; granddaughter Katelyn Hines of Lewisburg, OH and special four-legged canine grandchildren Drake and Dixie; sister Joyce Hembree of Eaton, OH; brother and sister-in-law Ronnie and Diane Hines of West Manchester, OH; sister-in-law Barbara Flowers of West Alexandria, OH; nieces Cynthia Kuder, Brenda Hembree and friend Harry, Debbie (Mark) Everett, Rona (Alex) Krueger and Missy (Donnie) Willett; nephews Gene (Brenda) Hembree, Randy (Wanda) Hembree, Gary (Kathy) Hembree, Todd (Kachina) Hembree, Robert (Diana) Rayner and Brian (Julie) Hines; and numerous great nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Wares Chapel United Methodist Church, 1060 Foos Road, West Manchester, OH 45382 with Rev. Seth Oiler and Lowell Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Wares Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, OH with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard and Ohio Patriot Guard Riders. Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday at the church. Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, Eaton, OH is assisting the family with arrangements.
