Lillian L. Harter
Former seamstress for Milco Industries
Lillian L. Harter, age 87, of Shaffer Road, Bloomsburg, died Saturday, April 17, 2010 in the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had resided for the past two weeks. She was a resident of her home on Shaffer Road for over 58 years.
Lillian was born on Saturday, February 3, 1923 in Mifflinville, a daughter of the late Clark and Hazel (Lowe) Force. She was a 1940 graduate of the former Catawissa High School. Throughout her entire working career, Lillian was employed as a seamstress for Milco Industries.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Espy and an active member of the United Methodist Women.
Surviving is her beloved husband of 51 years, Delmar Harter, a daughter: Frances McConnell and her husband, David of Hughesville; a son: Matthew Harter of Bloomsburg; a step-daughter: Carol Ann Klinger of Berwick; two step-sons: Jay Harter and his wife, Cathy of Hallstead, Pennsylvania, and Robert Harter and his wife, Dawn of Wapwallopen; 10 grandchildren: Jennifer McConnell, Heather Reitz, Daniel McConnell, Megan Harter, Laura Samson, Grant Harter, Robert Harter, Erica Pyzia, Steven Klinger and Crystal Eisenhauer; 6 great-grandchildren; and a sister: Jean Diehl of Thornton, Colorado.
Lillian was preceded in death by her first husband: Thomas G. Matonis in 1949; three brothers: Ralph Force, Donald Force and Harold Force; and five sisters: Irene Busch, Erma Breech, Thelma Wetherill, Elva Ernest and Gertrude Hower.
A Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, April 20 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Allen Funeral Home at 745 Market Street in Bloomsburg.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 21 at 11 a.m. from the Allen Funeral Home in Bloomsburg, with her pastor, Susan Rogutski officiating. Graveside Services will be held in Elan Memorial Park in Lime Ridge. Memorial Contributions in Lillian's name are suggested to: Trinity United Methodist Church, 2361 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
