Memorial services for Mr. Leo Blackwell, 87, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2009, at Matthews and Son Funeral Home of Jennings, with Rev. Dore Langley officiating.
Burial will be in St. Jules Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. today, Thursday, and will continue from 8 a.m. until time of services on Friday.
Mr. Blackwell passed away Wednesday morning at Christus St. Patricks Hospital in Lake Charles.
He was born in Albany to the late Matte Gaspard and Lillie Whiddon Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell was a retired shift foreman for Conoco Petroleum Company. He enjoyed raising cattle, fishing, hunting and gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Ethel Rasberry Blackwell of Evangeline; two daughters, Judith (Harold) LeJeune of Evangeline and Yvonne (Rudy) Tramel of Tee-Mamou; two brothers, M. L. Blackwell of Evangeline and Bob Blackwell of Jennings; one sister, Katie Fruge of Jennings; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Beard; and four brothers, Johnny, Earl, A.M. Doddle and Arblee Dutch Blackwell.
