Husband of Mary Bolen Crum and buried beside her. He was a genuine American hero. Enlisted in the Texas National Guard, 2nd Battalion, 131st Field Artillery, 36th Infantry Division - "The Lost Battalion." Captured by the Japanese on the island of Java, at the beginning of the War in the Pacific, and served the duration of the war as a prisoner of the Japanese, enduring unimaginable conditions. His grave deserves an official marker for those who served in the United States military, and a special POW marker. His name appears on the roster of prisoners from the Lost Battalion. I do not know why there is a military marker at his grave for service during WW II in the US Air Force.
