Amanda was the daughter of John Derrick & Catherin THOMAS Smith. Born on Derrick's Creek, Poca District, Kanawha Co. WV., fifteen miles north of Charleston, WV.
Amanda never married. She bought 107 acres of land in Nov. 19, 1903 that was once the "Old Aultz Farm" and lived there her whole life. She managed it her self with a niece and nephew and some hired help.
She directed the management of the farm herself with the assistant of a niece and nephew, and hired considerable help. Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
1850 Kanawha Co. Census, Sissonville, Poca Dist. till 1920 she was in the Charleston Dist. 7th Ave. 76 years of age living with a cousin, W. E. Derrick age 61.
