Obituary:
On Wednesday, October 15th, the friends and relatives of Mary Eliza Gilmore were called together to pay to her their last and sad respects on this earth.
The deceased passed away on Sunday evening, October 12, 1884, from all earthly trouble, of which she had her share, and found at last, after weeks and weeks of bitter agony and suffering, a place of peaceful rest, in the realms of her beloved Savior.
She had lived a Christian's life and was at an early age, united with the Methodist Church. She was born in Oneida County, in the State of New York, March 14, 1822. From that state she moved to Illinois, and was there married to William Gillmore, November 12, 1857. She leaves an only son and a husband to mourn her death. She was the mother of only two children, the oldest of which having died in infancy, leaves only one to grieve over the deep, sad loss of a mother.
Her funeral was attended by a large number of sorrowing friends of which she had made a great many by her charity and kind heartedness.
Many thanks are extended to the friends and neighbors for their kindness shown the relatives in their bereavement.
