Mahoning Dispatch, Fri, 10 Feb 1922
"Geeburg - Feb. 8 – Samuel Sterret Gault, long a resident of Ellsworth township, died at his home here Tuesday soon after an illness of six years with heart trouble, although confined to his bed only 10 days. Deceased was born in Jackson township March 11, 1843, son of Oliver [sic Robert Oliver Gault Jr.] and Marjorie Ewing Gault, and his entire life was spent in this county, most of it in this immediate neighborhood. He was a graduate from the Poland seminary after which he taught school for nine years. His high standing where best known is attested by his being called to serve as justice of the peace for 10 years and assessor for a long period, work he did in connection with his farm activities. He always took an active interest in the social and civic welfare of the community and was a member of the Presbyterian church. Forty-eight years ago he was married to Alice Williams, who survives with three children; Mrs. Inez Gretsinger, at home; Arrel Gault, Akron, and Mrs. D. W. Ennes, McDonald. Mr. Gault was one of 12 children, seven of whom survive; John, William, G. J., R. E. Gault, Jackson; Gideon Gault, Warren; Mrs. Arrel Smith, Struthers; Mrs. Thomas Billard, Wayne. Funeral services will be held from the family home Friday [10th] morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. W. P. Hollister, pastor of the Canfield Presbyterian church, being in charge. Interment in the Ellsworth cemetery."
