Henderson George Day was born in District 6 of Hawkins County, Tennessee. The post office was Strawberry Plains. His parents were Thomas and Aleatha Berry Day. His birthdate is given as Dec 15, 1868, however it may have been 1869 accortding to the 1879 census. By the time he was 10, the family had nmoved to Heya Paha, Holt County, Nebraska. He married Ida Gillaspie in 1892 in Holt, Gage County, Nebraska. They had the following children, John Thomas, William and Hazel by 1900. In 1920, the family had moved to Rock Island, Grant County, Oklahoma. At least four more children had been born, but were no longer surviving by 1920. They were Frank,Cora,David,Lloyd and possibly Essie. Of this group, only Frank survived. Henderson and Ida continued to live in Grant County for the rest of their lives, farming.
