Martha (Smith) Kyker has been described to me by two of her grandchildren (Nola Wilhite-Hancock & Jessie (Kyker) Stout as as very sweet person.

Our Mother, Martha Smith Kyker, being left an orphan as a baby, didn't know she had a family until 50 years later when our oldest sister, Nellie Mae, advertised in "The Comfort" Magazine for any information. As a result she found she had two sisters. A happy reunion followed immediately. (Source: Notes of Mrs. Harold Rex Wilhite ... genealogy report, August 25, 1965).

More suggestions for you. I do know Martha’s place of birth was Patrick County, Virginia. However, there are numerous conflicts regarding her date of birth. The date you have listed (Oct 8 1861) does not match anything else I’ve found. Her death certificate implies an 1865 birth, but does not give an exact date. The 1900 census lists a Jun 1864 birth, so I suppose this will have to be a judgment call on your part.
The date of death you have is incorrect by one year, according to her death certificate. The correct date should be Aug 10 1939 in Strawberry Plains, Knox, Tennessee, USA.
