Eleanor L. Porteous (nee: Sturm), 95, of Round Lake passed away Monday, January 8, 2001 at Winchester House in Libertyville.
    Born January 3, 1906 in Lake Zurich. The daughter of the late Jacob (Magdalena Nee: Baker) Sturn. Resident of Round Lake since 1937. Former member of the Pioneer Grandmothers Club, and the Round Lake Area "Happy Seniors". Former owner of the Park Pet Shop in Round Lake Park for over 10 years.
    She leaves her daughter, Patricia (Gene) Piwowarczyk of Lake Villa; 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren; nephews, Howard Myers, John Sturm, Wally Stang, Lester Stang, and George Stang.; nieces, Mrion Sturm, Deloris Butenschoen, Evie Munts, and Irene Bratzke. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles D. Porteous in 1987; daughter, Ellen Mae Stooksbury in 1984; son, Gordon Porteous in 1946; sisters, Grace Blum, Alice Oltendorph, and Pearle Schtonus; brothers, Art, Harry, Gordon, Russell, and Merle Sturm.
    Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2001 at 10:00AM at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM, LTD., 410 E. Belvidere Rd., Grayslake, IL 60030 with the Rev. Orell C. Ruth officiating. Interment will follow at the Fort Hill Cemetery in Round Lake. Friends of the family may visit at the Funeral Chapel on Wednesday from 5:00-9:00PM. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 777 Central Ave., Highland Park, IL 60035 in memory of Mrs. Porteous.
