Lonnie Joshua Mathis (Lon J), was the son of Robert E. Mathis b. 19 May 1847 TX and Mary A. Ellis b. April 1852 Georgia. He was one of four children born to this marriage. His siblings were: Bell Mathis, William C. Mathis, Ella Mae Mathis.

Lonnie married 1 Mar 1896 in Parker Co TX, 'Fannie' Price, the daughter of Angy Price and his 3rd wife Huldah Tierce. (You will note that both the name Huldah and Tierce were used in the naming of their own children.)

Fannie and Lonnie J. Price had the following children:

By occupation Lonnie was a grain dealer. He lost his wife to stomach cancer on Mar 9, 1920.

He died of a gunshot wound to the head July 1, 1923. He was just 48 yrs old. No explanation was given on death certificate. Informant on death certificate was J.E. Griffith of Lubbock, Texas.
