Mrs. B. E. Carpenter Dies In Hattiesburg
Mrs. B. E. Carpenter of 121 West Forth St., Petal, Miss., died at 6 a. m. Tuesday at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, Miss., following an illness of 2 ½ years.
The body will remain at Quigley's Funeral Home until time for services at 4 p. m. Friday at the Purvis Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Purvis-Coletown Cemetery.
Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Grady Gibbs, Petal; and Mrs. Donald Howington, Hattiesburg; five sons, Seaman Rex E. Carpenter, San Diego, Calif.; Lt. James E. Carpenter, Navy Air Force, San Diego, Calif.; Lt. William B. Carpenter, Norfolk, Va.; Seaman Robert W. Carpenter, Pearl Harbor; and Benton E. Carpenter, Petal, Miss.
Mrs. Carpenter is sister of S. J. Bond and Oscar Bond of Purvis and the late Mrs. T. W. Davis, Sr.

Mrs. Benton Carpenter Buried In Purvis
Funeral services for Mrs. Benton E. Carpenter of Petal were held Saturday afternoon, May 21, in the First Baptist Church of Purvis, and burial was in the Purvis-Coletown cemetery. The Rev. Paul H. Leber, pastor of the church, officiated.
Mrs. Carpenter was a former citizen of Purvis, having been born and reared in this community. She was the former, Miss Edna Bond, sister of Shep and Oscar Bond of Purvis, and Wilmer Bond of Hattiesburg. She was also a sister of the late Mrs. T. W. Davis. She had been ill for a long time and died in the Methodist Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Survivors include the above brothers, her husband; two daughters and five sons, and we understand that all the sons are now or have been in the armed forces.
Pallbearers were B. E. Carpenter, M. E. Bond, Jr., K. Bond, Bill Bond, Coy Bond, E. R. Carpenter, Jr. and John H. Carpenter.
