Worked for Springs Cotton Mill in Lancaster, SC as a Loom Fixer.
Married 24 November 1939.
Moved to Wilmington, NC to work at the NC Shipbuilding Company 1942-1946 as a Welder.
Graduated from Winston-Salem Barber School 31 December 1946.
Started Barber Career January 1947 at Cape Fear Hotel Barber Shop, Wilmington, NC. 1947 Joined Associated Master Barbers and Beauticians of America.Opened his own Barber Shop 1954 with Lee Roy Peterson, Peterson & Harley Barber Shop, at North 17 Shopping Center on Market Street. Then with Mack G. Watts in 1967, Harley & Watts Barber Shop. Daddy finally retired about 1984. Joined about 1947 Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cape Fear Lodge #2 has a 25 Year Member Plaque. They Adopted me March 3 1953. My Mother & Daddy were member's and active attendees of Sunset Park Baptist Church until we moved to our Kerr Avenue home. Then they joined Temple Baptist Church and attended there every Sunday. 1964 my Dad purchased a 12 foot Jon boat, he would pick me up at school on his day off (Wednesday) and we would go fishing in the sound at Wrightsville Beach. Then stop by Skinner & Daniel's Barbeque and pick up a pound, half pint, and a dozen! We fished every Wednesday when I was growing up! I was blessed with Wonderful, Loving, Godly Parents! Thank you Lord! I love you Daddy! Johnny
