An Old Resident Dead.
Mrs. Martha J. Bartley, an old and highly respected citizen, departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Mason, in this city Tuesday, June 9th, 1914, aged 71 years, after a lingering illness from that dread disease, tuberculosis.
Aunt Martha, as she was called by all that knew her, was born in Monroe County, Kentucky, in 1843, and was married to Mark Bartley in 1860. From there they came to Missouri in 1870, locating at old Kidville and from there they moved to Milan in 1905.
Of this union there were six children born, three boys and three girls all of whom are living. .The children are John Bartley, of Fostoria, Kansas, Roy Bartley, of Kansas City, Mo., Sam B. Bartley, and Mrs. Hugh Page, of Green City, Mrs. Matilda Hill Barker, of Maryville, Mo. and Mrs. Frank Mason, of Milan, Mo.
The funeral services were held at the Christian church in this city, of which she was a consistent member, by Elder Munyon, formerly pastor here, and Milan Chapter No. 65, O. E. S., had charge of the burial ceremony, in Oakwood Cemetery, another life has gone out and another soul has passed.
The husband and children desire to express their heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors who so kindly lent their assistance and did all in their power to help in every way they could during the sickness and death of our dear wife and mother.
