Mr. Gray was born in Caldwell parish, near Columbia, October 18, 1888. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Gray, who were life-long residents of Caldwell parish. Mr. Gray was educated in the Caldwell parish schools and at the beginning of the World War enlisted and went overseas where he remained for 18 months.

Mr. Gray was a resident of Ruston for 16 years. His business beginning in Ruston was with Mr. Krousel where he received training in his profession. Later he became associated with Mr. Beard's shoe repairing business and eventually bought the shop. He had been active in business until three years ago, when because of ill health, he went to the Veteran's Hospital at Alexandria for treatment. After a long time, he was able to be up, and for a while could look after his business. But the exertion of business was too much for him, so in a short time he went back to bed, and grew steadily worse until his death.

The funeral was conducted in the home by the Reverend C. E. Autrey, of the Temple Baptist Church. The body was taken to Grayson for burial and was met near Monroe by a large delegation of Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which organization Mr. Gray was a member. The service at the grave was conducted by that organization and was very impressive and fitting.

Mr. Gray leaves besides numbers of friends who shall miss him, a sister, Mrs. L. L. Meredith, to whom he was devoted, and two brothers, G. O. Gray, of Clarks, and J. B. Gray, of Mineral Wells, Texas.
