Janie Hammonds as she liked to be called, was born Sarah Jane Eckert, August 28, 1904 at Warner, Oklahoma. She passed away December 18,1993, in Neosho, Mo where she lived with her daughter for a short time. She was a former resident of Fort Worth, Texas where she lived for many years. Ms. Hammonds was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Louisa Eckert, her husband, William (Bill) Hammonds, 2 sons, Charley L. Hammonds and Billy E. Hammonds. She is survived by 3 sons, Johnny Lee Hammonds of Turlock California, Oran Eugene Hammonds of Cleburne Texas, Archie H. Hammonds of Modesto, Ca; daughter C. Lorene Gilbert of Neosho; sister Arby Graham of Oklahoma; 23 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
