Mrs. Martha Squire, who celebrated her one hundred and second birthday on Sunday, Oct. 11, died at noon, Sunday, Oct. 24th, at the home of her daughter in Nelsonville. She enjoyed her usual health up to within a week. Mrs. Squire, whose maiden name was Holmes, was born in Pound Ridge, West Chester County, Oct. 11, 1794, and seventeen years later married Lewis Squire, who fought in the war of 1812. She has been receiving a pension of $30 per quarter. "Aunt Patty," as she was called, lived with her youngest daughter, Mrs. Harriet Terwilliger. Mrs. Squire is survived by seven children. There were ten, but three are dead. Amos Squire, the eldest child, is still living, aged 84. The remaining members of the family are seventeen grandchildren, the youngest 23 years old, twenty-two great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the Cold Spring Baptist Church, of which Mrs. Squire was a member since 1812, on at 2:30 p.m.
