MECHANICSBURG GIST.

Last evening, at his residence on the McCormick farm, in Hampden township, Mr. Jacob Basehore died after a lingering illness of Bright's disease. Mr. Basehore was probably one of the best known farmers in the lower end, and has hosts of friends, who to-day are made sorrowful by the sad intelligence of his death. deceased was a member of Col. H.I. Zinn Post No. 415, G.A.R.

THE BASEHORE OBSEQUIES.

The funeral of the late Jacob Basehore took place this morning at 10 o'clock. The services were held in the St. John's Lutheran church (sic), opposite Shiremanstown, and were conducted by Rev. Ferguson, of the Silver Spring church (sic), and Rev. H. N. Fegiey, of this place. A delegation from Col. H.I. Zinn Post, G. A. R., numbering nearly 40 comrades, attended the obsequies, and performed the beautiful ceremony of the Grand Army at the grave. The pall bearers were six members of the McCormick farmer's association, of which deceased was a member. The funeral was a large one and was attended by many prominent citizens of this and adjoining counties, among them Col. Henry and James McCormick pf Harrisburg. Mr. Basehore at one time was jury commissioner of this county; was a member of the G.A.R. having served with credit in the late war and a man greatly respected in the community in which he moved and lived. He was aged about 58 years.
