__Alex "Jack" Stoddard, 77, of 308 Day St. NW, died Friday, May 16, 2003, in Mercy Medical Center following a short illness. Services: 2 p.m. Monday, Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, by the Rev. Randy Kasch. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, with military rites. Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
__Survivors include his wife, Delores; a son, Ricky Dale Stoddard and wife Cindy and their children, Isaiah Michael Stoddard and Emily Marie Floerchinger, of Cedar Rapids; a son, Craig Dareld Stoddard and his son, Tyler Logan Stoddard , of Cedar Rapids; a special friend, Mary Sheila Stoddard of Cedar Rapids; and a sister, Gladys H. Peterson of Adel.
__He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and seven sisters.
__Jack was born Sept. 23, 1925, to Alexander and Cora Hayes Stoddard in Alburn (sic), Neb. He married Delores Jean Weber in Sterling, Neb., on July 4, 1959. He worked for the Cedar Rapids school system. He served in the Army during World War II and was a disabled American veteran. Jack enjoyed woodworking and playing cards with his grandchildren.
