He was born to Mr and Mrs John G Ehn in Ramnas Bruk, Sweden, August 8, 1873 and immigrated with his parents to America in May 1886. Coming directly to Polk County, Nebraska, he located on a farm in the Swede Home community for a period of ten years, after which he moved to a farm east of Polk to reside for seventeen years. Since 1914, he has made his home in the town of Polk.
Mr Ehn suffered a stomach disorder for nearly a year and had spent about sixteen weeks in the hospital. He failed to respond to surgery and medical treatment and succumbed last Thursday night, having reached the age of 73 years, 7 months, and 5 days. Until physically disabled, Mr Ehn attended the Evangelical Free Church of Polk and before his passing, gave a definite testimony of a personal faith in his Savior Jesus Christ.
He is survived by four sisters and three brothers, namely, Mrs Hilma Pearson of Grand island, Mrs Hannah Olson of Moore, Idaho, Mrs E E Samuelson of Polk and Mrs Walter Olson of Clarks; Charlie of Santa Ana, Calif., Emil and Joe of Polk, and many other relatives and friends. One brother Gust preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 18, 1947 at 2 PM at the Joe Ehn home and 2:30 PM at the Evangelical Free Church in Polk, with Pastor Milford E Olson in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs C O Rodine, Mrs W C Rodine and Mrs Rudolph Nyberg. Interment at the Polk Cemetery.
