Walter Scott Howe was born on Monday; September 17, 1917 in Keokuk; Lee County, Iowa. He was the son of William John and Florence (Hardin) Howe. Walter first married Lois Graham in 1946. She preceded him in death in May of 1981. He later married Janette Morgan on December 23, 1983. He was a lifelong resident of Keokuk, Iowa. He was employed by Union Electric as a maintenance supervisor for 37 years, retiring in 1983. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Friendly Sunday School Class, American Legion Post 41 and the union at Union Electric. He enjoyed visits with his family and neighbors. He enjoyed gardening both vegetables and flowers and giving the excess vegetables to organizations. Walter Scott Howe, age 92, passed away on Monday; April 19, 2010 in Kissimmee; Osceola County, Florida. Those left to mourn his passing are: His wife, Janette Howe of Keokuk; two sons, Dr. Douglas Howe of New Port Richey, Florida and Randy Howe of Kissimmee, Florida; two grandchildren, Shannon and Doug Howe; two step daughters, Becky McNeil and her husband, Mike, of Collinsville, Missouri and Clarcie Thornburg and her husband, Steve, of Johnston, Iowa; five step grandchildren, Reha Holtorn, Jeremy Steffen and his wife Lucinda,
Janine Brock and her husband Nathan, Brent Thornburg, and Austin McNeil; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Fortner and her husband Junior and Katherine LeMaster; and many nieces and nephews. Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois; two sisters; and one son. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday; May 3, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Funeral services will begin at: 11:00 a.m. on Monday; May 3, 2010 at the First Christian Church in Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church or Donors Choice. The Dejongs Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
