She came to Jo Daviess County, Illinois in early 1854 with her widowed mother and a brother, Adam, and a sister, Barbara. Adam, Barbara and her mother went to Clay Center, Kansas about 1879. They convinced Christina and her husband, George Dittmar, to join them in Clay Center, and the Dittmar family moved there in 1884.
Adam was a harness maker in Clay Center, lived in Los Angeles for a time, where he raised a family, but he died and is buried in Clay Center. Barbara married Louis Eye in Schapville, Illinois and also died and is buried in Clay Center.
