Ransom G. Bouillon, age 90 of Charles City, Iowa died Thursday, April 29, 2010, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday May 3, 2010, at the Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua with Pastor Dennis Niezwaag officiating. Special music selections include "Grandpa, tell me about the good ol' Days," "Go Rest High on that mountain," and Pastor Dennis singing and playing guitar to "Amazing Grace."
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Nashua, with grandchildren Patrick Bouillon, Kip Bouillon, Zachary Kalvig, Ty Bouillon, Brandon Bouillon, and Jackie Shreve-Miller serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call 3:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday May 2, 2010, at Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home in Nashua. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home.
Ransom Gus Bouillon was born February 12, 1920 in Galt, Iowa, the son of Gus and Maria (Geiger) Bouillon. Ransom grew up on the family farm the only son of six children. He received his education at rural country schools.
On December 30, 1939, Ransom was united in marriage to Jennie Janssen. To this union, seven children were born. Ransom was a long time farmer, and worked many years in maintenance for the Floyd County Secondary Roads Department. He ran the maintainer out of the Niles Corner shop. Ransom always owned horses, and he had a special love for them. He attended many local fairs, and was an avid fan of chuck-wagon racing. One of his favorite hobbies was playing cards. He will be remembered by his family for their fond memories playing cards with each other, and Ransom often coming out the winner. These were the times that he thoroughly enjoyed, spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Ransom is survived by three sons, Jerry (Marilyn) Bouillon of Greene, IA, Dennis (Connie) Bouillon of Ionia, and Louis (Barb) Bouillon of Charles City; four daughters, Joyce (Cal) Wood of Ionia, Mary (Bill) Mooberry of Charles City, JoAnn (Darrell) Schmidt of Charles City, and Kandi (DeWayne) Eddy of Nashua; one sister, Josette (Don) Bailey of Dixon, IL; 22 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jennie in 1998; four sisters, Raymonda Bean, Yolanda Ames, Violet Martin, and Charlotte Bryan; and four grandchildren.
