Leslie "Les" H. Abell, Jr., 83, of Spring St. Windsor Locks, CT. husband of the late Elizabeth (Brown) Abell, died February 1, 2001 at Elm Hill in Rocky Hill, CT. Les was born in Brooklyn, NY. and lived in Pittsfield, MA. where he was the first draftee in World War II. He later lived in Northampton, MA. his late wife, Betty's, home, and moved to West Suffield,CT. Broad Brook,CT. and Windsor Locks, CT. He served in the Army in the 26th Yankee division, graduated OCS-Engineering and was a 2nd LT in 2nd Engineer Special Brigade and was discharged as a 1st LT. with a Bronze Star after five years' service. He is survived by two sons, Frank B. Abell of Templeton, MA. and Robert W. Abell and his wife, Nancy, of Wethersfield, CT. a brother, Stephen Abell of Pittsfield, MA. a sister, Barbara Overton of Rainbow Springs, FL. four grandchildren, Kirsten Lee Abell of Hartford, CT. and Christopher R. Abell of Wethersfield, CT. and Mark Abell and Luke Abell of Templeton, MA. Burial will be in Bridge St. Cemetery, Northampton, MA.
