Floyd Melvin Auld of Grain Valley, MO, formerly of Miami, died Friday, April 30, 2010 at Wilshire at Lakewood Nursing Home in Lees Summit, MO after an illness. He was 85.
Mr. Auld was born July 6, 1924 at Dilworth, Oklahoma to Edward and Mary Auld. He had lived in Miami for many years before moving to Grain Valley in October 2009. He had worked as a service officer for the Veterans Administration. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving with the United States Navy as a Torpedoman 2nd Class. He was a Lifetime member and Past Commander of the VFW Post in Miami, a member of the American Legion and had been active in Miami Lions Club.

He married Barbara Janell Auld on August 4, 1967 at Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2004.

Survivors include: 1 Son: Matt Auld of Grain Valley, MO. 4 Daughters: Kerry Crow of Eugene, OR Randy Susan Shurter of Blackwell, OK Kathy Schanck of Los Cruces, NM Barbara Real of Boys Town, NE 17 Grandchildren 19 Great-grandchildren

Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami. The Rev. April Oristano will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery of Miami. Pallbearers will be: Jeremy Auld, Jared Auld, Dane Tannehill, Rhett Tannehill, Chris Stolle, Wade Louge, Joe Real, James Schanck and Michael Schanck. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 147 Funeral Detail. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Miami.
