Norma Louise Melton
MARSHALL, Illinois. — Norma Louise Melton, 83, of Marshall, died at 6:05 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall, where she lived as a resident for the past seven years.
She was born Oct. 22, 1925, to Clarence D. Lamb and Hallie Myers Lamb. She was a longtime secretary at Marshall Junior High School, and was a member of Marshall First United Methodist Church. She married Murray A. Melton, on Aug. 16, 1946, and he survives. She also is survived by one daughter, Rebecca Melton of Fairview Heights; two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Janet Melton of Marshall, and Murray Melton Jr. and Jane Ann Melton of West York; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Deanna and Lee Davis of Marshall, Debbie and Tim Wilkerson of Mount Vernon, Wendy and Troy Tharp, Matt and Amanda Melton, Misty and Chuck Wieland, all of Marshall, Lisa Melton Grauer of Collinsville, Murray Melton III and Melissa of Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lois Dix of Hutsonville, and Dorothy Wesner of Flat Rock; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Nicki Melton Murphy; a great-grandson, William Murphy Davis; three brothers, Lester "Bud" Lamb, Gary Lamb, and an infant brother Clarence Lamb; three sisters, Dana Francine Lamb, Beulah Lamb, and Betty Enlow.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. CDT Wednesday at Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, in West Union, with the Rev. Richard Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Bradbury Cemetery, rural West York.

Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Burnsides Community Health Center, and 9 a.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the or to the Marshall Junior High School Library. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
