The end of a good, Christian and useful life came to Mrs. Mary Kathryn Allison passed away at her home at Beaver Crossing, Nebraska January 17th at the age of 69 years and 2 days.
Mary Kathryn Huber was born January 15th, 1867 near Princeton, Illinois; when a baby of two years the family moved to Nebraska City Nebr. where she resided until 1889; from there she moved to Seldon, Kansas. In the year 1892 she was united in holy wedlock to Mr. Charles Allison and this union was blessed with four children Ellen, Emma, Charles and Ethel. Ellen preceded her mother in death on March 20th, 1933. In the year 1908 having lived in Kansas for 19 years the family moved back to Nebraska and made Beaver Crossing their new home where she resided until her departure from this life.
In her early years of life there was manifested a longing for a Christian and Godly life and seeking fellowship in the Lutheran Church and became a member of this faith as a young girl. Later in life she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Beaver Crossing and remained a true and faithful member until death.
Sister Allison led a very active life until about three or four years ago when her health failed and a malignant ailment made its appearance which caused for the last year or so a great deal of pain and suffering in which she proved herself a true and patient sufferer; without complaining she bore the burden and cross in the spirit of her Savior knowing that the way of the Cross would lead home. The end of her beautiful life was peace with her God in Christ her Redeemer in whom there is no death but life eternal.
The husband Mr. Allison preceded her in death February 3, 1933. Those who survive and left to mourn her departure from this earthly life are her only son Charles, of Milford, Nebr. and two daughters, Emma and Ethel, at home, one brother, John Huber of Selden, Kans., her daughter in law Mrs. Chas. Allison, one granddaughter, Vera May and three nephews and two nieces, and Frank Borin of Bloomfield, Nebr. who had lived in their home for a goodly number of years and many dear and warm friends.
The funeral services were held Monday afternoon from the home at 1:30 o'clock and at 2 o'clock from the Methodist Church at Beaver Crossing. On account of sickness of her pastor the Rev. Mr. Drum, Rev. Mr. William R. Velte, of Milford, Nebr. preached the funeral sermon to a large concourse of people who had come to pay their last respect to this good woman and mother and beloved by everybody. The many and beautiful floral pieces gave evidence of love and friendship of her many friends. Both grades of school children were dismissed to attend services in honor of their teacher Miss Emma Allison, a daughter of the deceased. The interment was made in the Beaver Crossing cemetery.
The six girls in the fourth grade carried the flowers and were Deloris Gary, Mable Ferguson, Leona Abraham, Margaret Helget, Roselma Bell and Vivian Johnson.
The pallbearers were John M. Huber, Clarence Huber, Virgil Huber, Roy Huffman, Grand Hansen and Dean Barnes.
Those attending the funeral from out of town were Mrs. May Huber and sons, Clarence and Virgil of Rexford, Kansas; Mr. John Huber and son, John M. from Seldon, Kansas; Mrs. A. L. Brown of Lincoln, Mr. Trimmer of Douglas, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Goeke of Waco; and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Mundt of Crete.
