Robert W. “Bob” Booth, 82, Rural Sawyer, died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 in a Minot Healthcare Center.
Bob was born on February 25, 1928 on the family farm south of Sawyer, ND, the son of Vance and Alma (Schoenwald) Booth. He was raised on the family farm and attended schools at Sawyer, graduating from Sawyer High School in 1946.
Bob was united in marriage to Dolores Ann Hanson on September 25, 1949 at the Oak Valley Lutheran Church in Velva. They made their home on the farm that Bob’s grandparents had homesteaded in 1882.
They farmed small grains and raised cattle, and have continued to live on the same farm, east of Sawyer in Ward County in Ward County, throughout these past many years.
Bob joined with the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, Minot. He had served on the Sawyer School Board, Sawyer Township Elevator Board and was a member of the ND Farm Bureau. He had been recognized by the Ward County Soil Conservation Board as a Centennial Farm and was a three time winner for soil conservation practices.
Survivors include: Wife of sixty years, Dolores, Children: Susan (Jeff) Hill, rural Sawyer; Debra (Bruce) Sanderson, rural, Sawyer; John (Jan) Booth, Grand Junction, CO; Six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren; sister, Lila Mae (Robert) Schlecht, Longview WA, Sister-in-law: Carole Ann Booth, Kerrville, TX & Joann Booth, Longview, WA.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Cecil, Don and Edward Booth.
Funeral: Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 11:00 in the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, Minot. Interment in the Velva Cemetery, Velva, ND.
