William Ernest Ketchum, 72, of Hallsville died Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, at Heritage Hall Nursing Center in Centralia.


Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Fenton Funeral Chapel in Centralia, with the Rev. Marci DeVier officiating. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Centralia. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until services Wednesday at the funeral home.


Mr. Ketchum was born Nov. 3, 1929, in Hannibal to Ewin and Goldie Pearl Cook Ketchum. He married Mildred Bell Overstreet on April 17, 1954, in New Franklin, and she preceded him in death.


He was a member of the Baptist Church of Hannibal. He worked in trucking and farming in the Centralia area and was a maintenance engineer for University Hospital for many years.


After early retirement, he established the Triple K Lawn and Tractors Equipment Co. on Route B in Hallsville.


Survivors include two sons, Gordon Lee Schrader of St. Peters and Michael Ernest Ketchum of Hallsville; two daughters, Goldie Marie Zumbehl of Jefferson City and Pamela Ruth Martin of Hallsville; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Archie Raymond Ketchum of Paris, Mo.; and a companion, Shirley Reeter of Columbia.


He also was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Peggy Lee Kintner; a granddaughter; and two sisters, Lula Mae Hirner and Anna Pearl Miller.

Memorials are suggested to cancer research.
