Patsy Jo Murrell Ahrens was born to Bobby Lee and Joyce Arlene Ernst Murrell, at the Fillmore County Hosptial in Geneva. She passed away at the University of Nebraska Medical Center on July 15, 2004, at the age of 55 years, eight months and eight days. She was one of six children in the family.

She was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Fairmont. She received her education from kindergarten through the 12th grade in the Fairmont Public Schools, graduating in 1967. Following graduation, she worked as a bank teller at the Farmers State Bank.

On December 19, 1970, she was united in marriage to Larry Eugene Ahrens, who was employed with the York Public Schools. They made their home in York. A daughter, Tammy Grace, and son, Danny Lee Ahrens, were born to this marriage while they lived in York. The family later moved to McCool Junction, where Larry was the principal and a teacher.

They later moved to Benkelman, and Patsy took up employment with the Benkelman Schools as a para-professional. They then moved to Cameron, Mo., where she continued to work as a para professional at the Cameron Middle School from 2001 to 2004.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Ahrens; daughter, Tammy Nicholes and husband Demarcus and grandchildren, Deidre, Tatem and Donovan Nicholes; son Danny Ahrens; parents, Bob and Joyce Murrell; brothers, Michael Murrell and wife Judy; and Robert Murrell and wife Jina; sisters, Barbara Scheil and hsuband Dave; Sharon Slezak and husband, Tom; and Julie Dillman and husband, Bob; grandmother Mabel Ernest; many nieces and nephews that brought her joy.

Funeral services were conducted from the Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva on Monday, July 19, with George Probasco officiating.

Jessica Kier sang "Amazing Grace" and "Go Rest High on the Mountain.

Casket bearers were Chad Murrell, Ryan Murrell, Terry Murrell, Trey Murrell, T. J. Slezak and Doug Samp. Honorary bearer was Ben Belecha.

Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
