He was born Dec 17, 1900 in Rockingham County a son of the late Jacob and Martha (Harshbarger) Diehl. He was a member of the Main Street United Methodist Church. He was a carpenter and painter.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Margaret (Baker) Diehl of Waynesboro; one daughter, Mrs. Charles N. Key of Waynesboro; three sons; James B. of Waynesboro, Jacob C. of Mt. Crawford and George R. Diehl of Staunton; one sister; Mrs. Grover East of Waynesboro; three brothers, Herman H. of Mt. Crawford, Paul R. of Baltimore, Md. and Hayes L. Diehl of San Francisco, Calif.; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The body will remain at the McDow-Tyree Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
