Phillip was born in New Castle, Indiana March 29, 1936 to Russell and Edna (Bundy) Baskett who preceded him in death. He graduated from Mississinewa High School in Gas City and married Mary Lou (Duckworth) Baskett in 1954. She precedes him in death.

He had worked in sales most of his life. He loved the lake, boating and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Herbert Kuhn American Legion Post 235 in North Webster, and the Warsaw Moose Lodge. Phil was active in Lake Conservation and Preservation.

He is survived by a brother, Russell (Sarah Jo) Basket, Virginia; sons, Allen (Margaret) Baskett, Celina, Ohio, Phil Baskett, Newport Richey, Fla., Stan (Kelly) Baskett, Carmel and daughter Linda (Steve) Biggers, Indianapolis. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.Leesburg - Phillip E. Baskett, formerly of Jonesboro and Carmel Indiana, passed away April 26, 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in a house fire Feb. 17, 2010. Main Street, Gas City. Funeral Service will be Thursday, April 29, 2010 at 3 pm at the funeral home with Pastor Richard Martin officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospital Burn Center, 700 Broadway, Fort Wayne, IN 46802 or Tippecanoe Watershed Foundation, c/o Lake City Bank, P.O.
