Mary Lucretia Ackerman was the first child of Charles and Jane (Lott) Keil, and was born November 24, 1909, at their home northeast of Fairmont. She passed away March 14, 1989, at Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 79 years, 3 months and 18 days.

Mary attended District 27 school, which was on her father's land for eight years. She graduated from Fairmont High School on May 18, 1928.

She did housework to earn her way through high school.

Mary was married to Reuben G. Ackerman of Fairmont, on June 22, 1928, at her parent's home.

To this union were born seven children, Margareut, Harold, Viola, Elizabeth, Carol, Wayne and Ray.

May and Reuben lacked one month of being wed fifty years.

Mary spent 11 seasons breaking eggs at the York Standard Brand egg breaking place, and three years as a nurse's aid at the Moore's Rest Home in Fairmont.

She joined the Fairmont Federated Church in 1923, and remained an active member teaching Sunday school, as well as serving as superintendent; president of Ladies Aid; and custodian for several years.

She joined the Star Rebekah Lodge 8 in April of 1946 and the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary in October of 1953.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Margareut) Oleson of Placerville, Ca., Mrs. Gary (Viola) Kovar of Garland, Mrs. Harold (Elizabeth) Lee of Portland, Ore., and Carol Fox of Geneva; three sons, Harold J. Ackerman and wife, Diane, of Oregon City, Ore., Wayne Ackerman of Fort Benton, Mt., and Ray Ackerman of Land O'Lakes, Fl.; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Luella) Guthrie of Fairmont, Mrs. Francis (Della) Rose of Fairmont, Mrs. David (Dorothy) Garrett of Olympia, Wa.; a brother, Irvin Keil and wife, Lora of York; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church, Fairmont, on Monday, March 20 with the Rev. Norman Kauble officiating.

Mrs. Marvin Swartz accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Roland Hall and Mr. and Mrs. Federal Bridgman, who sang, "The Old Rugged Cross" and Roland Hall, who sang "The Lord's Prayer."

Pallbearers were Darien Thomsen, Leonard Eifert, Melvin Ackerman, Marvin Swartz, Harold Smith and Dwight West.

Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
