Tyler --- Following a stroke of paralysis, Mrs. Mary Ann Tyler past away at her home on Friday night at the age of 73 years.
Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church at two o'clock on Monday afternoon by Rev. Otis Bowman -- Illinois City Correspondent Reynolds Press April 14, 1922

Tyler --- Mary A., daughter of William and Nancy Brunner was born Feb. 12, 1849, on the Brunner farm east of Illinois City and departed this life April 7, 1922, at the age of 73 years.
On Feb. 17, 1870, she was united in marriage to William C. Tyler. Seven children were born of this union, two of whom preceded her in death, Edith, who died in infancy and Fred B. who died August 8, 1918 Her aged companion and the following children survive: William K., Guy S. Vernon and Ethyl Tyler and Mrs. Margaret Powell all of Illinois City, One sister, Mrs Rose A. Kent, of Muscatine, a brother William H. Brunner of Tonkawa, Okla., 21 grandchildren many relatives and a host of friends also mourn her death.
She had attended Sunday School since she was four years old. She united with the N.E. church when 15 and was a faithful worker to the end. She had taught a Sunday school class for the last 57 years, being superintendent and teacher of the primary class in the Illinois City Sunday school at the time of her death. She was also president of the Ladies Aid Society, to which she had belonged for 40 years.
Mrs. Tyler was a mother to the motherless, a friend to the friendless and beloved by all who knew her. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on April 10 in the Illinois City church, Rev. Otis L. Bowman officiating. Pallbears were Emanual Brisbine, Raymond Duffield, Leslie Hayes, William Cannam, Marsh Blanchard and Clyde Rausch. Reynolds Press April 22, 1922
