Emma Augusta Schlote was born at West Point, Nebraska, January 30, 1887 and died in the hospital at Plainview, Nebraska, April 18, 1937 at, the age, of 49 years, 1 month and 19 days. She 'came with her parents to Plainview in 1902. She was united in marriage with O. D. Brokaw; December 7, 1904. To them seven children were born: Mrs. Fred Christiansen of Plainview, Mr's. Edward Nelson of Creighton; Carl of Royal and Velva and Orin at home and two children who died in infancy. She and Mr. Brokaw united with the Methodist church in Plainview. November 5, I922. She is survived by the husband, her aged mother. Mrs. Jimima Schlote, five children, twelve grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Pearl Guern of Concord; Mrs. Carl Kruse of Uehling, Nebr., Mary Schlote of Omaha, Nebr., Mrs. Charles Schwenda of Milwaukee, Wis. four brothers: Henry of Orchard; Arthur of 'Dodge; Theodore of Holton, Kan., Frederick of Reeding, Mass., and many other relatives and friends. The. funeral was held from the Methodist church in Plainview Monday morning April 18, 1937 in charge of the pastor, Rev. B. N. Kunkel. A quartette complsed of Mrs. Leo Wilson, Mrs. Fred Jewel, Mrs S. B. Shivley and Mrs. Herman Kuhl with Mrs. Milton Wiegert at the piano sang: "Where the Gates Swing Outward Never", "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Burial was made in the North Plainview cemetery.
