Clyde, Joyce Rogers McCracken, age 82, of Breezy Hollow Drive, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center.

Joyce was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, and was the daughter of the late Curtis Newton and Laura Day Davis Rogers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy McCracken, who died in 1995 and two brothers, Davis Thad Rogers and Astor Paul Rogers. She was a homemaker and member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She loved reading her Bible and was well known for witnessing for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Joyce loved crocheting and working crossword puzzles and was a member of the Crabtree Home Demonstration Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Clark and her husband, Edward, of Waynesville and Brenda Free and her husband, Charles, of Clyde; two sons, Troy McCracken and his wife, Joyce, of Clyde and Thad McCracken and his wife, June, of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Reverend Charlie Simpson and Reverend Davis Plemmons officiating. Burial will follow in Upper Crabtree Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Waynesville. Serving as pallbearers will be Justin, Barry, and Matthew McCracken, Jason Herbert, Chad Shipman, Curtis and Billy Free, Scott Clark, Brad Shirley, and Jeff Knight. Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar McElroy and Ronnie Bradshaw.
