Elizabeth Hudson Farewell was born in Harmony, Ontario, Canada. She died in Portland while living with her daughter. She and her husband Alexander opened the first gristmill in Sanilac County.

On the Oregon death certificate for Elizabeth it says she is buried at the Croswell Cemetery. There is no record of her at the Croswell Cemetery. So we think they meant a cemetery in Croswell. And though Lakeview is not in Croswell, but Worth, we believe she is with her husband Alexander.

Obituary - The Jeffersonian, Sanilac County, Michigan, June 30 1916

"A telegram was received on Wednesday announcing the death of Mrs. Alex Farewell in her home in Portland, Ore. It is expected that the remains will be brought here for burial, arriving on Monday. Mrs. Farewell was for many years a resident of Michigan, living near Jeddo. She had been living with her children, Mrs. Alfred West and Allie Farewell, in Portland for the past few years. Six children survive her, Mrs. Alfred West, Mrs. A. B. Graham of Croswell, Mrs. Evan Essery of Ann Arbor, Hudson Farewell of Detroit and the two in the West. Mrs. Farewell was nearly 88 years of age. It is expected that Rev. Julian West will be here for the funeral."
