"LAWRENCE J. GNUSE. 90, who died Oct. 23, 1994, at the Fremont Care Center in Fremont, services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wed., Oct. 26 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. Rev. Michael Rogers will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Paul's Church Cemetery.
Visitation was Monday from 5 p.m. - 9 p.m. and today, Tuesday from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral home and for one hour at the church on Wed.
Lawrence J. Gnuse was born April 25, 1904, in rural in Arlington. He farmed north of Arlington until 1968 when he moved into Arlington.
He worked as a carpenter for Gnuse Construction for several years and then worked for his son at Gnuse Manufacturing in Arlington.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lutheran Layman League and was a church elder and trustee for many years. He served several years on the Hewitt School Board of Washington County and was superintendent of St. Paul's Cemetery for five years.
He married Elsie Hagerbaumer October 7, 1928, at Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Winslow.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William & Annie Stork Gnuse; a brother, Martin and a sister, Leona Rinas.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie; sons and daughters-in-law, Arlen & Marjorie Gnuse, Fremont; Verdell Gnuse, Arlington and Eugene & Rebecca Gnuse, Arlington; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edward Gnuse of Arlington, Raymond of Omaha and Alvin of Carpentaria, California and one sister, Lenora Scheer of Arlington.
Pallbearers will be Larry Rinas, Dalvin Scheer, Gene Fuchs, Donald Gnuse, Gorlyn Hagerbaumer & Larry Wulf.
Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.
Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
