Joseph Blaine Warner, 61, of Millsboro, Delaware, and formerly of Harrisburg, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, April 26, 2010 at home.

He was born April 3, 1949 in Carlisle, PA and was preceded in death by his father, Marlin Merrill Warner d. Apr. 1951, his mother, Dolly Catherine (George) Smith d. Oct. 2005; his sister, Patricia Lee (Warner) Kuntz d. Mar. 2010; and brothers, Gary Allen Warner d. June 1984 and Johnny Travis George d. Oct. 2006; and the wonderful lady that raised him from five years to twelve years old, Maude Fuller d. 1964.

Joe is a descendant of German and Scotch-Irish early settlers of this country on both his mother's and father's sides that settled in Landisburg, PA area.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Paula Sue Peterson and companion, Robert E. Ward; sisters, Judith A. (Warner) Bookwalter and husband, Richard D. of Millsboro, DE, Ruth A. (Love) Bikle and companion, Mike L. Keefer of Hagerstown, MD and Susan M. (Love) Hiltner and husband, John C. of Carbondale, CO; brother-in-law, Larry E. Kuntz, Sr.; sisters-in-law, Shirley A. (Shaffer) George and Nanette M. (Weber) George; his former wife, Shirley M. (Peterson) Hooper; two grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved parakeets, Peppy and Buddy.

He was a retired custodian from Susquehanna Township School District with 27 years of service, a graduate of John Harris High School and a US Air Force Veteran with five years of service, and a member of Verhovay Home Assn., Harrisburg, American Legion, Harrisburg and the AMVETS, Millsboro, DE.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Fackler-Wiedeman Funeral Home, 23rd & Derry Streets, Harrisburg with Most Rev. Michael J. Scalzi officiating. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00 pm in the funeral home. Internment of Joe's cremated remains will be held in the Letort Cemetery, Middlesex Twp. at the convenience of the family.

One of Joe's requests was to let everyone know that "He loved them."

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, 31038 Country Garden Blvd., Suite D2, Country Gardens US Rte. 113, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
