Area Pioneer
Mr. Glick was 10 years old when he arrived in Pana by train in 1870. He had traveled from the former Glick home 18 miles east of Columbus, Ohio. His father bought farm land near Tower Hill sight-unseen and the family came to settle.
interviewed on the 100th birthday Mr. Glick recalled that his job--among those doted out to 6 brothers and sisters making the trip--was to carry the lunch packed in a lard can. He remembered walking across the city of Indianapolis from one railroad depot to the 2nd, carrying the can. The Glicks arrived in Pana in March.
Mr. Glick vividly recalled the younger days of Pana. For a time he stayed with an uncle, Harrison Miller, and attended East School (Lincoln). Harrison operated a hardware store in Pana.
On his 102nd birthdate, little more than a month ago, Mr. Glick quietly observed the occasion with a family dinner at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Strohl.

Mr. Glick said that when he was very small he was with his dad and saw Abraham Lincoln.
