Mrs. Mary Sears has a CSA widow's pension application on line under Coffee County. She says she married Hamilton Sears on Jan. 1, 1866. He enlisted in Atlanta, GA in May 1864 and served with Company H of the 2nd GA regt. He was wounded severly in his left hand, lost the use of 2 fingers and could not shoot his gun. So he was sent home before the war ended and he died on July 6, 1909. Mrs. Samantha Paulk, her sister, and B. F. Sears were witnesses for her. She only owned 2 mules valued about $200 and needed a pension to live.
