She was born Feb. 18, 1912, in Montana, Ark., the daughter of the late Andy and Belle Garland Russell. She was formally a creamery store operator. She married John Carter June 28, 1927.
She also made quilts and sold them all over the United States. She was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Robert (Betty) Carter, Bossier City, La.; two daughters, Wanda Payne, Alexandria, Mich., and Janice (William) Hard, Clarksville; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service and burial will be 10 a.m. today at Oakland Cemetery with the Revs. Earl Hall and Gabriel Harderson officiating. Arrangements by Hardwicke Funeral Home.
