A. J. Sales, 84, passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Hurst. Dr. Jeff Burnett will officiate. Burial will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: Friends may call at Lucas Funeral Home from noon to 8 p.m. today.

A. J. Sales was born on May 17, 1925 to Laura E. and John Wilbur Sales in Tulia, Texas. He served in World War II aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Nicholas in the South Pacific. He felt it an honor to serve his country.

Returning from World War II, he married his high school sweetheart, June Sales, and enrolled in Texas Tech University, earning B.A. and M. ED. degrees.

He coached in Wilson and Girard, Texas, before going into administration in New Deal, Texas. This was followed by 26 years of service in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district, serving as principal of Euless Jr. High, Hurst Jr. High and Bell High School.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, June; sons, Alan Sales and wife Kathy and Terry Sales and wife Carol; grandsons, Adam, Ryan and Tyler Sales; granddaughters, Tessa and Tanna Sales; one sister, three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews.
