S.P. Pratt Cox

McCAULLEY - S.P. Pratt Cox, 85, named McCaulley's Homecoming King in 1996, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in McCaulley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial will be in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home of Hamlin.

Mr. Cox was born in Golan in Jones County and was a lifelong resident of Jones and Fisher counties. He graduated from Golan High School and married Lura Ellen "Sam" Gibson in 1933 in Sylvester. He formerly worked for Celotex Corp. and also was a local union president of Celotex. He was a Sunday school superintendent at McCaulley United Methodist Church for 45 years.

Survivors include his wife, of McCaulley; two daughters, Patsy Sue Martin of Abilene and Donnie Nell Huff of Mead, Okla.; two sisters, Edna Brown of Colorado City and Jimmie Faye Lawlis of Hamlin; eight grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
