Glenn Doyle Allender
Glenn Doyle Allender, 82 of Parma, passed away peacefully at home of natural causes, Wednesday, February 23, 2000. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 28, 2000 at Dakan Funeral Chapel in Parma. Interment will follow at the Roswell Cemetery.
Glenn was born January 20, 1918 at Rockford, Illinois, the son of Harry S. and Mary Ellen Doyle Allender. The family came to Roswell when Glenn was 3 years old and he attended school at the Roswell School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II serving in the Philippines and Leyte. He was honorably discharged in June of 1946.
Glenn married Mary Ellen Maness on February 6, 1945 at Middleton. Glenn and Mary Ellen have made their home at Roswell for the past 55 years. Glenn was a member of the Parma IOOF Lodge #55 and the Ruby Rebekah Lodge #49 of Parma; he had also served on the Riverside Drainage board for 40 years and had served as caretaker of the Roswell cemetery for 18 years.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen of Parma; a daughter and son-in-law, Marcia and Armando Ruiz of Boise; a son, Keith Allender of Parma; and a daughter and son-in-law, Harriett and Terry Camphouse of Wright, Wyoming; a sister, Neva Armstrong of Eureka, California; a brother-in-law, Jim Maness and his wife, Sally of Davis, California; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Mary Ellen Allender and a step-mother, Bess Allender.
