Mr. Robert Edwin Porter, age 72, of Newbern, Tenn., died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, in DyersburgMr. Porter was born July 3, 1929, in Newbern, Tenn., and was the son of Sheffer Porter and Blanche Jones Porter. He was a former president of the Forrest City Chamber of Commerce, served on the St. Francis County School Board, was chairman of the East Arkansas Community College Board and chairman of Forrest Memorial Hospital Board.He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Polk Porter of Newbern; one son, Robert Edwin Porter, Jr. of Fisherville, Tenn.; four daughters, Savilla Porter Wolf, Julia Driver Porter, and Amanda Porter Jenkins, all of Newbern, and Janet Porter Jackson of Harrisburg and seven grandchildren.Graveside funeral services for Mr. Porter will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, at 1 p.m., at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tenn., with Rev. William T. Jowery officiating the service, under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
