Tom Bean - Services for Gilbert Blythe, 71 year old retired State Highway employee who died Saturday at a Sherman hospital, will be held at 2:00 Tuesday at Earnheart Funeral Chapel in Whitewright. The Rev. Harry Stanley of the First Baptist Church of Tom Bean will officiate. Burial will be at Holloway Cemetery.
Mr. Blythe was born in Tippah County, Miss. a son of Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Blythe, and married Jewel May Crosby on Sept. 7, 1935, in Ripley, Miss.
He had been a member of the city council and served as mayor of Tom Bean from 1973 until 1978. Mr. Blythe was a Presbyterian.
Surviving are his wife of Tom Bean; a son, Jeff Blythe of Sherman; daughter, Mrs. Willard A. Croley of Tom Bean; brother, Howard Blythe of Ripley; sisters, Mrs. Fannie Criswell and Mrs. Hester Moore. both of Ripley; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers are Gene Larkin, Bill Smallwood, Troy Adams, Pat Stephens, Pat Hamilton, and Dwight Shields.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 P.M. Monday and other times at the home of Mrs. Croley.
